World in a Shell - polliniferous project

This autartic installation, forming the most compact and mobile living/working unit running on renewable energy, able to be placed and unfold in any climatic and cultural condition.  Featuring an intelligent plug and play modular interior, a membrane cover tent, a self-loading possibility and a independent energy household, based on sustainable outlines. For artist Hans Kalliwoda this versatile system will serve as a tool that can transform into a cinema, workshop centre, film studio and stage for performances. To begin with he will visit the San people in Botswana and the Inuit in Greenland close to UNESCO world heritage sites to collect and disseminate knowledge and experiences that lets the Shell grow into a cultural treasure box.  MARC realized parts of the concept for the interior.

Design of a cola bottle

As a result of a new marketing strategy new bottle concepts were developed for a cola brand. The design of the bottle needed to enforce the new marketing strategy and directly appeal to a target group. The project commenced with a sketch-brainstorm session with different themes after which the most promising concepts were further detailed in realistic designs.

Alarm central

The design for the housing of this retail alarmbox started with a structural design of the components. Then, various formal variants were developed. We chose for a shape which was traceable to the related product line of the client so that a product family would appear. All important plug entries were positioned on the dividing line of the product, in order for it to become a simple utility for the user. The arched lines are characteristic for the product family.

Make-up box

The functionality of this make-up box is successful but its design was of age. MARC developed new design concepts. As the box had several hinge mechanisms, attention needed to be paid to a clear shape language as to inform the user what the product’s abilities are. By applying an appropriate combination of geometric and organic design, an attractive and functional design appeared.

Mobile bar

The majority of mobile bar furniture is difficult to move around as a result of their large sizes. MARC designed a mobile bar which could be dismantled in a few elements, making the furniture more compact and better transportable. Its design got a more modern look and due to its interchangeable front panel in combination with the color of the working top, one can personalize or brand the bar furniture.

Router

The assignment for this product was to design a distinctive product in a rather conservative market for network routers. The aim was to position the product as the ‘hero’ instead of it being a side utility. After having made an overview of all existing products/routers, new options for design concepts were explored. Out of these, a number of concepts were chosen and further detailed.

Picknick set

Wind is, due to its unpredictability, often the cause of an apparent mess of plates, forks, knives and spoons during a picnic or barbeque. This design was the result of a creative brainstorm session focusing on this problem. One only has to use one hand to keep the picnic set together. In another situation, one can pin the two half, cylinder shapes into the grass whereby an elastic with clamps holds together the plastic plate.
