HomeAbout Marc Disciplines Product design
Product design, also called industrial design, refers to the development of products which are manufactured industrially (mostly in serial production). It is a complex combination of esthetical and functional characteristics of the product. It needs to be both attractive and functional; as well as (for a reasonable price) producible. The entry point can be an existing (aged) product or a new product idea. In product design, choices are being made in the field of design and styling, usage, technology, material application, processing, re-usage etc. Examples are a folding bicycle, fire extinguisher, chair, roof light, machine housing, etc.
